Wow! It is so inspiring to see the amazing submissions of the 2021 North Coast Lens exhibition. Congratulations to all who put their art out there into the public eye. I love this eclectic collection of works of art that range in diversity from a beautiful “selfie” to classic black & white landscapes from, not only the beautiful Lost Coast, but places beyond.

I especially love it when I see a photograph that is the results of “seeing” a unique image that only the photographer sees. Those captures don’t always end up in frames, or as “Best of Show,” but the mental and artistic exercise of “seeing” in photography is one of the most important skills a photographer can have.

I wish there were more awards to give out as there are many deserving images here, but I tried to make my selections as diverse as the submissions to include as many genres of photography as possible.

It’s an honor to be the judge of the 2021 North Coast Lens photography exhibition. Enjoy the art!
