"Focus on Fiber was such an interesting show to judge owing to so many varied pieces, techniques and skills: quilting, weaving, felting, book making, embroidery, stitchery, thread painting, and quite an array of techniques and expertise. The sincerity of craft and subject is what interests me in looking at art. No matter if the work is a realistically rendered and expertly quilted landscape, emotionally rich abstract, or a work of humor, I like to see the artist’s hand and thoughts.
