Ryan Jensen Three-Day Painting Workshop: May 7,8 and 9th

Class Description:

This workshop is designed to guide participants through creating an apple study then transitioning to mastering the art of painting a breathtaking sunset over water at the marina.

Purpose:

This workshop aims to cultivate artistic growth, inspire creativity, and provide a supportive environment for participants to enhance their painting skills by focusing on a specific subject. The intimate setting allows for personalized instruction and hands-on practice to achieve proficiency in depicting the serene beauty of a marina sunset.

This workshop will be a valuable opportunity for art enthusiasts to expand their repertoire, deepen their understanding of color theory, and hone their painting techniques in a collaborative and encouraging atmosphere.

Workshop Details:

• Duration:  Three days
• Participants: Limited to 12 students
• Subject: Mastering the painting of a sunset over water at the Marina.

Workshop Outline:

• Day 1:  The workshop will begin with an engaging PowerPoint presentation on the color spectrum and its significance in relation to our subject matter. This session will provide a solid understanding of color theory as it pertains to capturing the beauty of a marina sunset. This presentation will also discuss my four principles of painting. Design, edge-work, contrast, and color. We will begin with an apple study, then transition to capturing a marina sunset.

Accessibility: Please note that my studio is situated upstairs and is not wheelchair accessible. Should any participants require accommodations or have mobility concerns, please inform us in advance so that we can make appropriate arrangements.

Materials needed: Each participant will need to be equipped with necessary painting materials

• Plein air easel, palette, brushes, palette knife, paint thinner, mixing oil, paper towels, and 
• Paints such as Ultra marine blue, cerulean blue, cad yellow light, cad yellow medium, cad yellow deep, cad orange, cad red light, Alizarin crimson, and Titanium white.
